99 Weeks Old!

Here Henry is trying to get Wilbur to watch the Olympics... obviously Wilbur is not interested.

Olympic fever continues at our house. Henry loves to "ski jump" by putting his arms back (like a ski jumper) and launching himself off the ottoman. Hopefully one of us is there to catch him! He can say "ski jump" which is very cute. He also likes to watch the bobsledding which elicits lots of "whoa!"s from him. He is continuing to exercise his independence by telling us "No!" quite frequently and freaking out if we try to help him to do something he feels like he should be able to do himself. Unfortunately what he thinks he can do himself and what he actually can do himself don't often align. This includes wanting to be able to "hold" (or as it sounds like when he says it, "old") full cups of beverages. He loves to sign "stop" and yell "stop" at the same time to Wilbur whenever Wilbur barks or does something Henry doesn't want him to do. Wilbur is generally a good sport about this, although I can't say he obeys Henry.

Weekend Update

Eating his first hot dog on a stick. :)

Henry and Brett at the Globetrotters.

Ring-around-the-rosy at Inari's birthday party.

Seems like there's a persisting problem with the video I tried to post...I can't figure out why - maybe it will resolve itself.
We went to two second birthday parties this weekend. Both were so much fun...Henry really enjoyed himself - especially the cake! On Saturday we also went to the Harlem Globetrotters basketball game at the Rose Garden. Henry was pretty tired from the birthday party that morning, but still loved it! We had a nice family breakfast at Gigi's on Sunday with the whole crew and took Henry to the park for awhile. Then today he and I went to the zoo for the second time in a week, taking full advantage of the nice weather. Since we had just been to the zoo last Monday he fully understood where we were going when I told him this morning...or at least I thought he did, until I asked him what animals he wanted to see at the zoo and he responded "Bumpa" (meaning Grandpa Rex)! Hee hee hee!
The first picture is of Henry eating his first hot dog on a stick...from the stick (he's had them cut up before). Okay, so it wasn't actually a Hot Dog on a Stick, it was a corndog (what was I thinking?!?). Now, I realize that for most people, this would not be a remarkable milestone, but given his lineage, obviously it is for us! :)

98 Weeks Old

Two weeks away from the century mark (in weeks!) and only a little over a month away until the little guy turns 2! His two best friends, Anna and Inari, turn two this week. So crazy!! I focused on some more arty shots for this week's pictures! We'll call them little boy in the big city. Enjoy!

Valentine's Day Gift

Think he was excited to open his gift? (Which, by the way, was bubbles, pencils, a book, and a little candy.) The bubbles were the big hit!

Olympic Inspiration

Here is a video of Henry shooting some hoops, then showing off his figure skating impression and finally showing off his smile for the camera.

97 Weeks Old!

Henry is finally on the mend, thank goodness! Brett is probably the sickest one of us now...
We did make it to storytime this week and also to a fun Valentine's Day craft activity at the Garden Home Community library with one of Henry's friends. Tomorrow we're planning on catching a dragon dance at a local Chinese New Year celebration held in collaboration with one of Mike's stores on Hawthorne. Should be fun...hopefully it won't scare Henry.

This week, since we were home a lot, Henry got lots of practice swinging his bat using the new baseball playset Hilary got him for Christmas. He loves it! (See pictures.)

He also has developed the nasty habit of saying "no" and "stop" at just about anything. "Henry, do you want ice cream for breakfast?" response: "No! Stop!" "Henry, do you want to go to the park and play until dark?" response: "No! Stop!" Arg! What else is he saying? Let's see...he signs/says "play" a lot, especially when we drive by a playground. He tells me he wants juice or milk (by signing and saying) at night when he's supposed to be going to bed. Little manipulator. The neighbors moved this week and Henry and I watched them, so now he talks about them moving every time we look out the window. Jumping off the couch is one of his new favorite indoor activities. Hmmm...can you tell we've been in the house a lot this week?!?

Weekly Update

Henry at the park last Thursday - he climbs all the way up to the top and goes down that slide all by himself now!
Late...really late...this week - sorry! We're sickies again at our house. Henry started feeling a little ill last Thursday and has progressively gotten worse. I hope the worst is behind us, but I can't tell for sure yet. Just a cold with a low fever, runny nose, and a bad cough. Probably a sore throat too...since I feel one coming on myself. We had fun Super Bowl Sunday with Gigi and Grandpa Rex taking Henry's mind off of his feeling sick.

My aunt Joan and cousin Kate came over on Thursday and watched Henry while I went out for awhile. (Thank you, thank you, thank you!!) He had a blast with them! Joan said they kept waiting for him to notice that I was gone and start fussing, but he didn't the entire time I was gone. Hooray! I hope this means I will be able to start leaving him for longer and longer periods of time.

Pictures for last week

At Trader Joe's doing some shopping. Look at the serious expression on his face as he decides what we need to get.

Helping wash in the kitchen!
